MEET THE ELDERS
Jim Whitaker
JOHN BATTERSHELL
I have been attending First Church of Christ in Hicksville since 1989. I met my wife, Penny, who has attended FCC her entire life, and we have been married for 35 years. We have six adult children, three grandchildren, and one grandson on the way.
Penny works in the accounting department at Stoett Industries. We also own Battershell Cabinets. This year, I am retiring after 36 years with Battershell Cabinets. Penny has also played an integral role as the CFO of our small company.
I have served as a deacon and am currently in my 15th year as an elder at our church.

My beautiful wife, Lisa, and I have been happily married for 38 years. We’ve been blessed with two sons, two daughters, and three amazing grandkids so far. We have been part of Hicksville First Church of Christ since May 2005.
Lisa is a teacher’s aide and has worked at Antwerp Elementary School since 2007. I have worked in the maintenance and engineering departments in various roles at Sauder Woodworking since 1993.
Lisa and I have served as teachers and as deacon and deaconess, and I have served as an elder at FCC since 2011.

I have attended FCC since 2005. In obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ and in imitation of His example, I was buried with Him in baptism on December 22, 2005. Since then, I have served the Lord in various ways, including as Sunday Class Superintendent, Trustee, Buildings and Grounds Team member, and most recently, Elder.
My loving wife, Ann, and I were married at the church in April 2009. She serves as a Deaconess and Sunday Class teacher at the church as well. Ann and I share five children and seven grandchildren. Ann has worked at Parkview Ortho Hospital as a Surgical Tech for 26 years. I recently retired from Carlex Auto Glass in Auburn, Indiana, after 32 years and now work part-time as a custodian at Antwerp Local School, a job I enjoy immensely. Ann and I enjoy serving the Lord and our community.
